Yikes! A Spider in My Shower!

Oh My! What a surprise I had when I was in the shower this morning...screaming...a big spider that came out of the drain! Yes, the spider made it's web overnight in my shower drain! I usually spare their lives and take them outside but this spider had to go! Hot water wouldn't even kill the spider, so screaming I ran to get a tissue.
Poor spider, poor me! Yikes!

The laughter of girls is, & ever was among the delightful sounds of the earth.
De Quincey
I bought this sweet book several years ago and each time I pick it up to read, I feel like I am reading it for the first time! I also get to read many sweet notes from family & friends I have tucked inside it that I cherish. Time fades away but never the friendships, new and old.

Girlfriends Forever is about joys of sharing everything with a good, stories and wonderful ideas!

This little book is for sisters, grandmas, aunts, moms & daughters ~ & for the best friends we couldn't live with out.

A candle passes it's fire from wick to wick & loses nothing in the act...

I am grateful for my Daughters, Sisters & You!

In the Kitchen with Maryjane

Seven Layer Cookies
1 cube butter
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup coconut
6 oz. chocolate chips
6 oz. butterscotch chips
1 cup diced pecans
1 can Eaglebrand sweetened milk
Melt butter in 9x13 pan, cover with crumbs, layer rest of ingredients.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
Cut into bars while still warm.
Yummy is the only word to describe these cookies!

Foot note: My friend Joyce just served these cookies at our Sisters on the Fly trip (below). I asked if she wouldn't mind if I shared the recipe or if it was a family secret.
Here is her cute reply:

"This recipe is SO not a secret! In 1931 Borden offered homemakers $25.00 for their original recipes using Eaglebrand-they got 80,000 recipes, and this was probably one of them. I know I've been making them forever as did my Mom...enjoy! Joyce"

Flyfishing with Hubby & Sisters on the Fly

Went flyfishing & camping in my little trailer for 5 glorious days on the Kern River, CA with the

Sisters on the Fly!

Once a year we have a gathering with the guys...Sister/Mister where our hubbies can come! What a blast we had! My hubby Don & I had a guide with us for one WHOLE day! 9am-5pm with lunch! Caught several fish and learned more techniques about the art of flyfishing. Yes, that is my feet relaxing and taking in the beautiful Kern River.

Ahhhh, a bit of heaven here on earth!
P.S. We always do "catch & release" when fishing. It is such a wonderful experience to take the small hook out of the rainbow trouts month and gently release it back into the river! Might see him the next time I flyfish! xo

My Vintage 1957 Travel Trailer

Well Girls, here is the pictures of my little 1957 Jewel vintage travel trailer I have promised to show you awhile back! Isn't she the cutest?! This is the trailer I tow to all of my Sisters on the Fly trips. I am spoiled to the core when I have her with me...feather bed and all the trimmings! I can "dry camp" or use hook ups depending on the camp ground. Most of the "Sisters on the Fly" have their very own vintage trailers also and it is a hoot when we get together! When we caravan on the HWY's we get a lot of attention! After we park and set up we have non-stop people coming by our trailers to visit and have a tour! Sisters on the Fly have been featured on the Travel Channel, Home & Garden Channel, local news channels in cities where we are camping and have been featured in many magazines & newspapers. Sisters on the Fly have events ALL the time throughout the USA and you can attend as many events as your pocketbook can handle! My next trip is next month in McCall, Idaho! This one will be a COWGIRL event! I love the Great Outdoors flyfishing & doing cowgirl stuff! This is a wonderful group of woman!
Love, Maryjane xo
"Her" name is ButtonWillow, named after a little town in central CA. I bought her from someone in Idaho and had her "trucked" down to me!

You are welcome to join

Granddaughter Hailey, 6 years old came to help me garden this weekend! Each time she comes to Grandma's house she always puts on her very own little vintage apron! I LOVE to collect vintage hankies! I have a huge drawer full of them that I replenish often because I love to give them to others...daughters, granddaughters, sisters & friends.
Here is a lovely vintage "Mother" hankie in honor of
my sweet Mother Gloria Mae.
My dear friend Ann (Anne Fannie of Green Acres) made a darling "hankie curtain" for her bright & cheery laundry room! Maybe she will share a picture with us on her blog! (hint Ann!)
Do you collect vintage hankies? xo
Wishing you a wonderful
Mother's Day...week! xo
