Tailgating Time!

1953 Pontiac Station Wagon
Source of pictures: Maryjane's Pinterest

Oh, how I love this time of the year!

Have you ever had a tailgate picnic? They are so much fun.

For many years we would gather our family
at the end of November to cut down our Christmas tree.
We always had a tailgate picnic!
The colors...and the hunt for the perfect spot!

Cool and crisp. The excitement!
What to bring?

*Dad's Sunday Chicken Sandwiches*
*Mom's Potato Salad*
*Grammy's Baked Beans*
*Maryjane's Cherry Cobbler*, oh my!
(cherry cobbler recipe here)

*Hot Chocolate*
&
*Hot Apple Cider*

Nothing like Fall...
You will be singing all the way home,
with a grateful heart!

Have a wonderful day!

Oh how lovely - it makes me want to take off now and roll up into the mountains! Our Honda has a small table underneath in the back which came with it for tailgate parties - we have NEVER used it. Must be time!

What a wonderful, wonderful post. Tailgating is really big in our area and usually done prior to The Packers playing football. Love the idea of yours though- xo Diana

My granddaughter's birthday is the 22nd of Dec. So all the cousins, aunts and uncles plus grandparents go sledding in Central Oregon. It is a tradition to have home made chicken noodle soup, sandwiches and hot cocoa on the tailgate. What wonderful memories we have made!

What a fantastic idea! My daughter and her darling husband will be home for 3 weeks in November and we will be celebrating Christmas a bit early with them. This would be such fun when we go hunting for the Christmas tree. I love the menu suggeations too. Thank you!

Oh my goodness, I went back and visited posts through September. I have been missing so much by not visiting sooner. This "Tailgate Picnic" post brings back so many memories of my childhood. Packing up the old (new then) 1955 Chevy station-wagon and heading out for a day of fun . . .singing all the way. My husband and friends are always amazed at how I know all the lyrics to songs from the 1920's,30's and 40's . . .that is because those were Mom and Dad's favorites and became mine, too.
Thanks for the lovely memories,
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

Not only do I love what's on the menu, I love what you're packing it in!! And I'm envious of the beautiful fall colors where you're at...we don't have that in central Oklahoma. I never thought of having a tailgating party when you're out searching for that perfect tree. Great idea :)
Oh....enjoy your tailgating party!!

What stunning photos Maryjane! I have been so busy with different things that have been going on here. I have missed lots of blogging, and wondered as well, now all were doing. I see you are up to your usual fun things!!! I miss you too.
