I love the first egg.
I had to capture pictures of it because I know there will be many more eggs to come! It's a tiny little thing and very sweet. Proud of my girls.

Very cool. Great pictures too.
Congratulations to you and the chicken! I totally understand the feeling. I danced from the coop to the house when I found my first egg.

The simple joys of life- an egg is such a miracle when you think about it!
I am going to have chickens someday- my hubby says I need to get rid of some other projects before I start any new ones though!

I wish I had the room for chickens! My second problem is that I have a very large "chicken eating" dog......

How wonderful! The yogurt paid off!
That first egg is a wonder isn't it? You never know when you will find it so it's always a sweet surprise, and they are usually tiny and cute too!
And what a beatiful egg she is....
You must be very proud of your little hen. Nothing is better than a good fresh egg.
Hope you enjoy your weekend.

Yippee!! Must have been the yogurt. Mimi
I live for the day we can stop apartment living and have a few hens. I even bought a book "Best Hens for You" by Charlotte Popescu with that very goal in mind.

Lovely blog, so fun to see your photos. I sure miss having some hens.
Oh that is too cool Maryjane! I remember my girls first eggs. They now give us one a day except in WInter. Such good eggs!
It's a beautiful egg! I love brown eggs. I buy them at the store.
Maryjane -- now you are a chicken farmer. I never wanted chickens (my kids did), but this year my 10 year old daughter won a chicken at a chicken race. We brought that chicken and one other that a cousin won 9 hours in our car home. My husband is finishing up a chicken coop and we have yet to figure out whether we have hens or chickens. My daughter is IN LOVE with her chickens and I find them amusing. How many chickens do your have? Congrats! Joni
Congratulations! You little Chicken Mama! :)

That really is a very sweet little egg. My folks raised chickens for butchering and another kind for laying eggs. I think I got my share then. I really enjoyed finding the eggs and taking them in the house, though.
Hugs, Cindy
Oh, my neighbors across the street have 6 chickens. How fun. They are so beautiful. Fun first egg.
Oh, how sweet! I wish I could have chickens. . . I think they are so cute! And hey that egg is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Karie
Maryjane, your chickens look healthy and beautiful! It must be all your love and that yogurt. We've had chickens for 20 years, so you know we love being chicken keepers!
Congratulation! I know and love that feeling of accomplishment when the girls finally lay their first egg! :)
