Chickens LOVE Yogurt! ~ UPDATE...EGGS!

I read that chickens love plain yogurt, so I gave it a try!
Flossie always lets Gracie go first and she was a bit scared of the white goop.
Yummy!
Now Flossie makes her way over.
Yes, they loved their afternoon delight...plain yogurt!
They hardly came up to catch their breath!
More, pretty please?
They should start laying eggs any day now.
Next spring I will be getting more chickens. I love raising chickens!

HUGE UPDATE!
~
My hens laid their first eggs today!
After writing this post I checked on them and 2 eggs were in their coop!
I am a proud mama! Woohoo!

They are lovely, and I always love going out and hearing their gentle clucking sounds. Relaxing for this farm girl:>)

Your chickens are so pretty! We give our chickens all our kitchen waste and so they eat pretty well. Lots of fruits and veggies. I don't eat much yogurt, but I'm sure they would love it along with the rest.

Hi Maryjane! I started with some cold yogurt out of my fridge today. It was 103 degrees and I didn't have any cold fruit to give them...then I remembered the yogurt. They were hilarious to watch eating it..sling their beaks around and it landing on another. Then them pecking that off each other...wow it was gone so fast!!

I started getting 1 egg 3 weeks ago. Then 2 eggs two weeks ago. This morning there were three..a brown..a light blue and a pale pink...so cute. 5 more girls to get busy laying..it should be 8 a day.I think this heat is affecting them also. I know it is me...lol

We moved them into the new coop...I can't get them to roost...they want to lay together on the ground..like a campout..lol
They are laying in the boxes..I put a store egg in there to give them the idea!
I still need to paint the coop it is to hot for me to do that right now.
Looking forward to seeing your coop.

Oh how exciting! Do you have a blog or sight that you go to that helped you get started on raising chickens? I'd LOVE to get 2 of my own.. Love the fresh eggs!

Whoo...hoo! Hopefully by this time next year, I'll have my chickens, too. What a pretty bowl they dined out of.

Getting that first egg is exciting!! I've never tried the yogurt, but I think I'll give it a try. I actually saw a hen in the laying process. That was a little weird since the egg comes out soft. My husband knew what it was, but I thought something was wrong. Live and learn

It is so fun collecting eggs everyday. Our chickens lay more than we can eat. It is fun to share eggs. I never throw food out. Nothing. All left overs go to the chickens and I feel good that we "recycle" food.

Hi Maryjane! You don't have an email link on your site. Next Vintage Marketplace is on September 9 & 10. I can't believe you're in Murrieta! Howdy, neighbor!
