My hankie garland reminds me of...
my Mother, Grandmothers, Sisters and my daughters Shelli, Heidi, Tiffani and Stephanie. I am grateful to be a Mommy and a Grandmother!~
This post is in honor of Mother's and those women who are beautiful examples of womanhood everywhere.
I am never without a hankie or two! Just something that I have always done since my childhood. I remember fondly my Mother always knotting a nickle in a hankie and tieing it to my little belt on my dress for milk at school...
Do you have memories of sweet hankies?
Do you use them?
Do you use them?
Have a wonderful week!

What a time we get to honor our mothers who have helped shape us into the women we are today. Like your clothes pins. Makes me think of my sweet grandmother.....
Such a lovely post. Are those handkerchiefs hanging? I so remember when everyone had beautiful handkerchiefs. It sure is something that has gone by the wayside. Happy Mother's Day. Joni
Yes, Joni, my hankies are hanging on twine using glittered clothespins. I carry a hankie or two always. Haven't used a Kleenex/tissue for years! xo
Hello Maryjane~thank you so much for stopping by. It's so nice catching up with you. Looks like I've timed it perfectly for a peek at your lovely collection of vintage hankies. I too enjoy glittering clothespins amongst a plethora of items.
Now my new passion is the edible glitters.
I think your caramel popcorn recipe will be a fun treat to make for my gal pals for Mothers day. I think I'll add a tag that reads.."Popping in to wish you a Happy Mothers day."
what do you think?
Sweet wishes,
Sara

That is a wonderful way to display your vintage hankies! They are so pretty, and the clothespins add a little zing. I loved your memory of your Mom and the milk money. Have a wonderful weekend and a very happy Mother's Day! Hugs, Terri

Maryjane,
I loved seeing your hankie garland! What a fabulous idea and so girly looking for Mother's Day! I, too, remember growing up with a grandmother who crocheted the edges of hankies and then gave them to my sister and I to knot and carry a little change for the collection plate at church. Made my heart smile to hear you mention knotting the hankie with change in it. What a beautiful posting to honor mothers everywhere on Mother's Day! xoxo Kim

sweet Up-North Mornings!
Lovely post. I love romantic roses.
I just discovered your wonderful blog! I'm going to subscribe, and I love your little trailer!!
i am brand new here and found you while blog hopping. I am so very glad i did as you have a lovely blog here. The hankie garland is precious. It makes me wish I had a fireplace with a mantle to have one here in my home...lol.
What a beautiful post! My Grandmother used to crochet fancy edgings on hankies and send or give them to us on our birthdays. I still have a couple she made. I was always fond of varigated threads....they are so pretty. Grandma crocheted roses, and butterflies on her corner hankies too. You've brought back nice memories!
hi my maryjane,
what a dear memory to have of a nickle tied in a hankie. you are adorable.
i hope you had a sweet mother's day. jeff and the boys made a very nice day for me, which made me very happy.

Enjoyed your post very much! Love the way you displayed your hankies. My mom used to tie our nickels for Sunday School in our hankies for us too! I never heard of anyone else doing that, so it made me smile! I was always afraid I wouldn't be able to get the knot out to get my money in the envelope--can you tell I was a worrier as a child??? Thanks for the beautiful tribute to Moms, and the walk down memory lane!!!
Hankies, I was on a blog one day and this gal had a cute idea she uses for hankies. She had a woodin spoon rack and displayed her hankies on that instead of spoons.
Wonderful post. I too carry a hankie in my purse. It's so old fashioned and I love the sweet romance of it. Remember how the young men carried their Beloveds hankie as a remembrance?
The only women I knew that held her hankie dear was my very hard working grandmother Anne who had one in her apron pocket. The other pocket held english mints. Precious memory that you have brought back. Enjoyed my visit.
Smiles-Jacqueline

Mary Jane, you are such a delight ... just checking in on you. Love the way you presented hankies ... I used to do that in our shop, so pretty.
Have a beautiful eve.
