A Day with Claudia~Mockingbird Cottage

Oh my goodness! What a wonderful day spent with Claudia of Mockingbird Cottage! (Her link is on my sidebar). She is everything I thought she would be...cute, warm, loving, intelligent, talented, witty, fun and full of life! I am so grateful blogging has brought us together and made us friends! She lives in New York but a 10 week job (which you can read on her blog,) has brought her to San Diego, CA. We met up yesterday in Old Town Temecula, CA for a day to met in person and have some fun!

We found out we are both the same age and graduated from high school the same year! An immediate bond! Claudia wearing her famous "signature" turquoise reading glasses!

Yes, I had to try them on!
We both had a Cesar Salad and a Bisque Tomato Soup! Yummy! And for dessert, yes we had dessert...a creamy chocolate mousse!

A vintage linen, a pretty vintage china rose plate, some of HER travel/doll clothespins and a darling vintage set of needles! She differently knows what I love! xo Looking forward to another day of shopping, chatting and having lunch together!

Friends Anne~Texas & Claudia~New York!

My dear friend Anne from San Antonio, Texas sent me this sweet set of dainty vintage teaspoons! Each teaspoon is different which makes the set unique and one of a kind. I love the little pink satin lined case that holds these treasures.

Journal Writing~A Day to Ponder

Cinnamon Honey Butter!

My favorite restaurant in my hometown serves the best Texas (I live in CA!) BBQ chicken & sweet potato/yams with the best~ever cinnamon honey butter! The buttered yam just melts in your mouth! I found a recipe that taste just like it!!! So I made some BBQ chicken in a crock pot and baked up a big yam for hubby and I! Heaven!

I just had to share the cinnamon honey butter recipe with you! Bake a yam (I bought a large one and cut it in half) like you would a baked potato wrapped in foil for about 1 hour at 350 degrees. Poke holes in foil for venting. It should be tender when done.

Baked to perfection!
For the BBQ chicken, use 3-4 chicken breast and 1 bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce.

Put into crock pot.

Bake on low for 7-8 hrs. or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken pulls apart.
For the Cinnamon Honey Butter mix together:

1 pound butter, 1/4 cup honey, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Mix together in mixer about 5-7 minutes. Chill.

2 Tea Party Chandeliers!

A few days ago when I visiting blogs and I went to visit Donna @ Party Wishes (on my sidebar). She had a garage sale and had some goodies left over. She had 2 darling custom made chandeliers and asked if anyone wanted to buy them!!! My heart skipped a beat! I left a comment, then hurried and wrote her a personal email as I was screaming "I hope she still has them"! Well sweet Donna had them and a couple days later, they are now in my home!

THANK YOU DONNA! Each chandelier was packaged beautifully!

Cupcakes Left At The Door!

Isn't it wonderful to come home and find sweet goodies left at your door?! That is what happened this weekend when we came home from being out and about! Sweet friends Will & Marcia came by to say hello. So sorry we missed them but thrilled for the gift they left behind. Now I need to "pass it along" and do a kindness to another.
Marcia is known for her cooking/baking treats. Look at the pretty glitter to! THANK YOU Marcia! The chocolate cake is so moist and the pink frosting is so creamy and yummy!
Sweetened to perfection...
They brought 8 cupcakes and by the time I took the pictures, 2 cupcakes disappeared!
I stored the cupcakes in this old~fashioned glass baking dish. I love the lid with a little handle. (Just like the vintage refrigerator glass containers).

I bought it at Walmart and going back for more. The name brand is "Arbor".

I love their glass baking cake/casserole pans with handles to!
