I have been adding potted Hydrangeas to my courtyard. Daughter Shelli gave me my second beautiful plant a couple weeks ago. Yesterday while Hubby and I were at Lowe's I let out a HUGE GASP when I saw this 17" across giant beauty among "others" in the same container! There was no way I was going to leave Lowe's without it!!! Hubby smiled and of course nodded his head (I would have bought it even if there was not a nod! LOL! Girls gotta have some things!) Excuse my garden worn hands but I wanted you to see the comparison to my hand. I planted it in a vintage pot.
I know most of you have seen one that big but it has been a long time since I have, if ever!
Your hands are like mine: seasoned well with love, sugar. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite but don't do as well here in the desert as they did in California; however, I keep trying, sweetpea. xoxo, Connie
I love hydrangeas. I have 3 on the north side. That is a huge bloom. Love that pink color and the pot. We visited Tennessee and at this campground was this huge old hydrangea. Must have been 6 feet tall at least and at least that big around. It was gorgeous. Have a great weekend Mary Jane. Hugs, Amanda
Maryjane...its Tami at pinkbuttercreme..how cute are you! Of course I remember my customer, Maryjane at "Beehive Cottage"!!! Thank you sweetie for checking in! Many hugs.
Those are so beautiful! I wish they grew well in this desert...keep sharing the pictures, I love them. It's almost as good as having them on my patio! xo!
O, I love 'em so much I could just marry them. I have been trying and trying to grow one here in West Texas but it's so dang hot, I don't think it will survive. I have it where it gets morning sun but not the hot evening sun..I keep it watered good. It had 4 large blooms (pink!) but they all fell off after about 2 weeks. I haven't seen another bud yet. :(
Hi Mary Jane, Beautiful hydrangeas, so big and fluffy. All of my hydrangeas come from Micahels craft store, haha......to hot for them where I live......and your little trailer is the sweetest. Have a fabulous Saturday, Janice
hooray for your new hydrangea. they are so beautiful. i don't have any ... yet ... just a little faux one from target! my across-the-street neighbors have big beautiful blue ones and against their weathered-gray shingled home, it looks like a view of cape cod. lovely.
Fabulous hydrangeas Mary Jane!It looks wonderful in that vintage pot. My hydrangeas haven't bloomed yet - won't be long now, but the blooms have never been as large as 17'' Wow!.
Good Morning Maryjane! I loved the hydrangeas. I have not had any luck with them growing out here in Phoenix tho. Moma grows them beautifully in Oklahoma. That is a huge bloom. What a treasure. If you get the chance pop over and see my Sunday post. I had a visitor yesterday. Happy Sunday. "Country Hugs", Sherry
Your pink hydrangeas are so very beautiful!! I have one bush and it is not blooming yet. After seeing your pictures, I can't wait until it does. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Hi Maryjane, I love hydrangeas and, concidentally, just bought two plants. The one I got at Home Depot has double flowers...pink on the outside and lime green in the middle. I took several photos which I will be posting shortly. I'm planning on planting them in the ground but the only place is along our back wall which faces east. They will get morning sun there but should be in shade the rest of the day. Since we live close to the ocean and it never gets really hot, I'm hoping that location will work out.
BTW, I LOVE that pot you have yours in. I'm sorry I haven't replied to your email but things have been a little crazy lately. Love & hugs, Suzanne
Oh my goodness..........NO! I don't think I've ever seen a bloom that big! What a thrill! I bought mini-penny hydrangeas on QVC this year. They're still little bitsy things, but so cute! Can't wait til they mature....the front bed looks a smidge bare right now! :-) I love the idea of putting them in pots.
I love your blog! I read an article once about sisters on the fly and I would love to join! Oops I don't have a trailer, have never fished in my life, nor do I want to ride a horse, It just sounds so fun! You know how they have car shows? I think it would be fun to have a sisters on the fly show so everyone could see your darling trailers. Let me know and I would come. I have met so many people since starting my new blog and every single one has been so nice! My daily blog reading time is extending much longer and I love it. I will be adding yours to my list and will be going back to the beginning so as not to miss a thing, it is really fun. Good to know you are in Ca. we can share tips on events! Thanks for the warm welcome and hope to see you again, Kim
Oh wow that's gorgeous! I wouldn't have left it either. I love hydrangeas and hope to have one some day. Can they stay in a pot for long term or do they need to be planted in the ground?
Those are just so pretty MJL. They don't do to good up here, plus I have so many trees they wouldn't get much sun. But they are a really amazing plant. How are you feeling? All recovered from your surgery? Nancy Jo
They are gorgeous! Just wait till your plant gets full size! We have two just like this one and they just get better each year. Trick is to not cut them down in the winter. Just snip off the old blooms.
Maryjane, I'm glad I saw this post - because I'm going to move to a condo shortly, and I was lamenting having to leave my roses. Hydrangeas are another favorite of mine, and I didn't know they could be potted, so I will look for some!
