I Made My Own Laundry Soap!

Cost to make: $12.63 = 8 1/2 cents a load!
16 pounds of laundry soap!
This recipe makes:
150 full loads = 2 Tablespoons per load.
Now that is some washing!
Ahhh, the smell of fresh laundry! I have wanted to make my own laundry soap for a couple years now and I finally did it! I am so excited because I am saving tons of $$.  This recipe is Aunt Jenny's over at MaryJane's Farm which I am a member. I am Farmgirl Sister #44! I have learned so much from MaryJane Butters and all the farmgirls! MaryJane is a True Blue Farmgirl and has taught me how to crochet through one of her many books! I have all her books & magazines and cherish each one. Check out her website! I know you will enjoy your visit

UPDATE! You gals have asked and *YES I LOVE the laundry soap and will never go back to store bought!
*Yes, it works well in hard water.
*White vinegar for the rinse cycle & NO your clothes will not smell like vinegar. Promise!
*You can find washing soda in the laundry section.

**HE front loader machines, dissolve 1 to 2 tbs. of detergent to hot water to make a liquid, then add to machine.
It works!
*Store in a 2 gallon airtight container.

It should last me several months
and cost just a few cents a load! I bought all my supplies at WinCo.

3 bars Castile, or Zote Bar Soap

4 lbs. Borax

3 lbs. 7 oz. Arm & Hammer Washing Soda

4 lbs. Arm & Hammer Baking Soda

Mix and store in airtight container.
1 to 2 tablespoons per load.

***Wash darks in COLD water.

REMEMBER it makes NO SUDS but cleans super!

You can grate the soap by hand but it was much easier using my KitchenAid attachment!
It has a nice fresh smell like a cool breeze.
I no longer use fabric softener.
I add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to soften fabric, brighten whites and eliminate cling. No vinegar smell left on clothes! Honest, it works!
I think my Grandmother's would be proud of me!
Now off to do some laundry.

Oh honey, I need to add something to my "Honey Do List"...
