And now let us welcome the New Year full of things that have never been~Rainer Maria Rilke
January, the month of new beginnings and cherished memories, beckons. Come, let winter weave her wondrous spell: cold, crisp, woolen-muffler days, long dark evenings of savory suppers, lively conversations, or solitary joys. Outside the temperature drops as the snow falls softly. All of nature is at peace. We should be, too. Draw hearthside. This is the month to dream, to look forward to the year ahead and the journey within ~Simple Abundance
During winter, each night I light this candle and read, ponder and pray before I fall fast asleep! This is a wonderful candle with the scent of Lemon Cake & it CRACKLES like a fireplace, which soothes my soul. The smell and sound is heavenly. I just bought another scent, Vanilla Caramel. Hubby and I found them while looking for camping gear at Bass Pro! Who knew!
It's a good thing!
I just had to have you look at this cutie~pie vintage suitcase that is behind the candle pictures! I bought it from one of my Sisters on the Fly sisters, Carol from Idaho. Her suitcases are in high demand among the sisters! On the sides she put my sister #595. I bought these new books & magazine to start my cozy winter days off with! Sweet Mary from
Isabella's Closet-Mary suggested the 2 books, so I just had to buy them! GREAT choices Mary! I LoVe them! I have a sweet craft room but a girl can always use more ideas!
Go check out Mary's blog! She has the best craft-office ever! Beautiful book filled with wonderful ideas! Oh, honey, where is the paint and glue?! Fellow blogger Cathy from Treasured Heirlooms-Cathy is on the cover of the December 2008 issue of Romantic Homes! Oh, what a treat she is and a very sweet lady! Her blog is a delight to!
I love this issue! Amazon has past issues on SALE! Enjoy your winter and the blessings it beholds!

Thank you Maryjane,

I love your pics for Winter reading. I keep meaning to get my hands on a copy of Where Women Create too. I just haven't done it yet!

Thank you so much for your sweet post about my December RH feature. It seems like great things like this go by so fast you wonder if they will ever happen again. One can only hope!

Thanks again sweet pea and stay warm and snug during these cold winter months.

Such lovely quotes.

And what a wonderful sounding candle... CRACKLES like a fireplace! Because of an all natural wooden wick, it says. I should look them up, on the Net. Because I probably don't have a ProBass store here.

Your practice of lighting a candle each night, reading and praying sounds so wonderful. A very good thing indeed.

I just wanted to let you know that you can buy the candles that CRACKLE like a fireplace with the wooden wicks at the Cracker Barrel. I have seen them many times while there.

Happy New Year!

I can smell that lemon candle way over here. It looks so cozy in your little space on my screen!!
It's snowing heavily today. Boys are off, no school buses and hubby had to go to the city. I'm just relaxing with my fur babies having a nice cup of coffee.
Have a great week

This post of yours is just jam-packed with the best info!!!!

I love those wood wick candles, too. I've been using a brand called WoodWick (how appropriate a name!), however, we have a Bass Pro just minutes away, so I will check out their brand on my next visit!!

I am crazy about that wonderful suitcase you purchased from your "sister"--I'm certain you Sisters on the Fly will all soon own your very own--I sure would if I was in your group!

I saw that magazine "Where Women Create" on another blog--it really looks like one I'd love to check out!

Mary Jane, thanks for leaving a comment on my 100th post--you are officially in the drawing for that mystery PINK!!!

Hope you're having a great week. Dana

How great you've laid out plans to read this winter. I always put together a short list, but unfortunately I am not able to always get to it, but I do grab my book or magazine when I get the chance.
I've never seen or heard of candles that crackle, but I am also enjoying my "new" candles. My dad gave me a whole box of all different scents. I'm enjoying blueberry right now. mmm

Your pearl MJ is just beautiful and I'm eating a candy cane as I read and type! I usually eat them for nausea -- it really does work!
