Cozy Dining Room

The dining room is the first room decorated! Finally! I will take pictures as I go...these days it takes me longer to get things done! I have tons of boxes filled with Christmas decor but I am decorating simpler this year. We have had this hutch, table & chairs for years. It has served us well and we have gathered hundreds of times with family and friends around it. Sweet memories and more to make. I am thinking I may paint it all WHITE next year. I have seen so many sweet blogs with painted white "old" dining sets and they look gorgeous!
What do you think?! Merry Christmas!

Love your pictures! If it goes with the style of your home, I would give painting a try. It will be like new furniture at a fraction of the cost (not counting your hard labor)!

Your decorations are so cute. I love the little girl opening her package. And I also like that plate holder with the spoon and fork. Great job!

Mary Jane,,I too have seen those beautiful hutches and such that have been painted. I seriously thought about getting mine done, (could never do it myself,lol)...Hummed and hawed (sp?lol)...in the end I bought beautiful scrapbook paper and placed in on the inside of my hutch, and bought three cute LED lights and stuck them up on the inside of the hutch..It really turned out quite nice. I would love to have mine painted black, or white,,I can't see me with white though,,not my family,,lol. So I keep it the same dark wood as when I first got it,,and make it mine, maybe I will take a pic of my hutch and let you know when I have it on my blog so you can see what I've been rambling on about,,lol.
Your diningroom is beautiful cozy. Can I come over for some tea please??

Hi Maryjane, Your dining room looks fabulous! I really like the hutch and I like the fruit garland on the light fixture. It all looks so festive and comfy. I think the set would be beautiful painted white.

Yes, your hutch is very similar to mine! I bought mine (used) on craigslist so I didn't have all the memories you have...that probably does make the decision to paint or not harder! It was a lot of work to paint but the reward is great...I love it!!

I think Santa really likes the Christmas Spirit you've got going on there. I can tell by the look on his face in the last photo there! Very nicely decorated!

Go for it! Paint away. I was so hesitant until I actually did mine but I am soooo in love with it. Of course I painted mine and everything else black, but white would look good too.

I love all your sweet decorations. I've been so obsessed with getting my dining room ceiling done that I am kind of behind on other things.

I hope so much that you are doing well. Take care. Love Janis

Your furniture would look fabulous painted white & distressed a tad. I paint everything white.... sit long enough at my house and your likely to get painted white as well lol The fabulous thing about painting things white is that you can buy more furniture and it alllllll matches lol

Here is a little tip. instead of sanding off the finish, purchase some t.s.p. from one of the hardware stores (in the paint dept) make sure you wear gloves, that stuff will dry your skin something fierce. Super easy, just mix it with water and wipe it all over your furniture, it takes the shine off so that the paint sticks better :-)
