Christmas Gift Idea...A Family Cookbook!

*
This was a fun Christmas gift to make and much appreciated by my daughters! I made 5 cookbooks...1 for me! I will continue to add to their cookbooks as time passes and more yummy recipes are found.
By making a family cookbook, you can start a tradition that will be passed down for generations to come!
Supplies:
3 ring binder, plastic sheet protectors, notebook dividers, adhesive type, rubber stamps, ink, die-cuts, 12x12 scrapbooking paper, and your imagination! Cut paper to the size of each side of the notebook and slide in. Type out lots of favorite family recipes, put in sheet protectors, and there you have a one of a kind cookbook!
XOXOXO

What a special gift for your kids! I love when mine call me for old family recipes that they grew up on.....putting them all together for them would be a great idea. But I think I will have to wait for next year. Hugs to you, friend!

Such a wonderful present that will become a family heirloom. When my daughter moved into her first apartment I wrote out "comfort food" recipes on little index cards and did a small watercolour. Homemade gifts are the best!

I love my cookbook! It's the best and the neat part about it is they are our family recipes and it was all put together by you! It will be passed down to Hailey and I'm sure it will be very full when she's a mommy & wife. Thank you for the special gift! =) xo I use mine allllll the time!

What a great idea. We all have our favorites and it would be good to pass them on this way! Thanks for sharing!

Great idea, MaryJane! I did the same thing, except I took a shortcut by using Cookbookpeople.com's software, which did all the basic page layout for me. Much easier than using Word. But I "customized" a lot like you did!

Mom- we LOVE our cookbook. Evern better when the boys use it. I have it up on my shelf in the kitchen. I think I need to put it back on the counter for others to see :) We love all the stories you add to it. Did I read you say more updates?!?!?!?

I created a wonderful family cookbook using www.FamilyCookbookProject.com and I could not be happier with how easy it was to get everyone in my family to contribute recipes and then have our family cookbook printed. Not only do we have a printed cookbook, but are recipes are online so it is easy to email them to friends that don’t have the cookbook available to them.

A family cookbook is something everyone can enjoy for many, many years!

We did something similar for an enrichment meeting. We had everyone share a favorite recipe of their mother's, along with a photograph of her. We copied the recipes and photos onto paper and then assembled the books at church. It was such a hit and so much fun seeing what the sister's moms looked like!

Maryjane, This is a fabulous idea. I should start doing that for my two daughters! They are only 2 & 3 but they have started helping me back! My mom has given me several recipes and it would be neat to pass them on! I am all about creating memories and traditions for my lil' girls! hugs, Ellen

Your family cookbook is beautiful. I did this for my extended family years ago and even though it was a lot of work I'll never regret it. My book was published about a year later! Your family will love your labor of love!
