Monday is Wash Day!

A few post down I talked about the clothesline. Today the laundry room! Since I spend a few hours a week in my Laundry Room, sprucing it up a bit has made my experience there more pleasant! A few tiny touches can make a difference! I made the Laundry sign a few years ago.
I am going to change out the door for a glass french door and add lace curtains for more light. I did this in my last home to the pantry door!

To make my clothes fresher and brighter I add 1/2 cup of Borax and 1/2 cup of white vinegar to each load, then I add Downy Vanilla/Lavender softener to the rinse.
The clothes smell so heavenly!
What day do you do laundry?
I like Mondays best!
Wishing you a wonderful wash day! XO

Goooodnessss graciousssss, I can't believe you talked about your laundry also!! I did one a while back and put my laundry room on a sidebar for people to see that they CAN be beautiful even though they're full of dirty clothes and cleaning supplies, chickadee. Go take a look sometime when you have a few minutes. It's a romantic roses place just like the rest of my house. Your little sign is adorable. I added a solar tube light to ours and it makes a huge difference in there now. I'm not gonna say I LOVE doing laundry but it sure is nice to be in now. :-) I do my laundry whenever hubs is nearly out of garments!! ;-)

What a pretty laundry room you have created Maryjane! Vanilla/Lavender added to the rinse cycle sounds wonderful :-) & I love your "Laundry" room sign.

I find I usually do laundry on weekends when I have a chance to be home-I work elsewhere during the week and I find I just don't want to do it in the evening when I come home. I do think it is past time for me to paint it and make it feel more pleasant to be in there. That is the one room I have never painted. What is the vanilla/lavender thing you mentioned? do you buy it or concoct it?

I don't have a set day really but I don't let it pile up at all, can't stand that.Your sign is adorable.
I add borax too!

Oh, I wish I could figure out something for mine. But it's sooo small. Just a little space by the back door. A couple of doors hiding shelves above them. Otherwise it's a walkway! Love what you did though!

Hello Sweet Maryjane, I loved your laundry room in your last house and in this one too. I love all your pretty things you have in there! In fact, you didn't show all your cute and pretty stuff in there! I like the Lavender to the rinse cycle but I never tried the borax. I do my laundry at night only and very often because I do not let laundry stack up! My laundry room is very clean, no clutter, no dirty clothes and a great place to hide the cat litter box!

I agree, Mondays always seem like washday to me. I have big plans for my laundry room in the log home. I will have room to display my collection of old washboards and my very old wooden hand-cranked washing machine. And the best part of it all....a big clothesline and plenty of fresh country air to dry them! Oh, and btw, there is nothing better than the smell of lavender in your freshly washed clothes!!

Yes!!! It's true! Your clothes do smell wonderful! I always know when Grandma washes the kids clothes because they do smell heavenly. The kids love it too... they sniff their clothes, while closing their eyes and they just melt with thoughts of you. Seriously! =)

Since we bought our new LG TROMM washer and drier laundry is more fun to do on any day of the week...!

Lovely Laundry room!
I do not like to be in undecorated rooms either, having them look and smell pretty, makes me want to be in them and clean them! My master bathroom is so ugly, I have green formica countertops that are hideous, and I painted over the ugliest dark green striped wall paper that looks like the 80's threw back up on my walls. I tell my hubby, I HATE being in there, and if we could just tile the floors and fix the counters etc. I would clean the darn room more, and his feet would'nt stick to the vinyl floors from the built up hairspray! SIGH...

Love all the beautiful projects you do, hopefully when the wedding and summer ends I will get caught up on all the blog post of yours I have missed.

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I am a big fan of yours and have been visiting for awhile, lurking, lurking, until I finally decided it was time I had one of my own! I live in Utah but I have a daughter who lives close to you, I think. I covet your pink bike and vintage trailer. Not to mention your home is beautiful. Thanks again for the visit. Come back soon. Mimi
PS I like to do my laundry on Thursday. Clean on Friday. Ready for the weekend with clean clothes and clean house! I use borax but I'm going to try the vinegar and see what happens...

Hi Mom, Will you come up and do my laundry?! : )
Your clothes always smell so good and the laundry room is always so clean and pretty! I usually do some laundry every other day if not a small load everyday because I can't stand it when I am not caught up! Folding clothes if another subject....I have to fold them right out of the dryer because if I don't I know they are going to end up on the floor in my room all day or longer!
Where can I find Borax?
Love you, Tiff xo

Hi Maryjane,
I would love to do laundry in YOUR laundry room. Mine is more like a walk-in closet. During the summer, I do laundry as needed and hang most things on the clothesline. During school, I do most of the laundry on the weekend. I adore climbing in between line dried sheets. The smell is heavenly.

Hello Maryjane,
It looks to me like you do more decorating in your laundry room then wash (smile). You have accessorized it so beautifully that it would be hard to expose any dirty clothes. I wish I had a PROPER luandry room. Mine is the back porch with an exposed hot water heater and it collects everything that needs to go out to the hoo! Oh well, I'm thankful to have a home at all.
Have a wonderful Friday Maryjane!
XO Cori

Oh my! But your laundry room is even pretty! Why would I even be surprised?!?!!! Everything Miss MaryJane touches is beautiful!
I'm expecially loving that hanger!

Tuesday is laundry here, oh and Thursday, and Friday. Okay, I wash on Wednesday, too. Oh and I forgot about Monday, Sunday, and Saturday.
I'm sorry, I'm not sassing -- I'm just trying to find some humor in my pain....;*)

Love you, Miss MaryJane,
